Research Interests

My research interests span over general areas of dynamic systems and control theory, with particular focuses on

  • Analytical (provable) adaptive learning methods for system modeling, diagnosis, and control

  • Hybrid systems, switching control, and impulsive control

  • Multi-agent distributed learning and control

  • Applications: multi-robot coordination, unmanned vehicles, soft robotics, and human body signal analysis.

  • 04/16/2020: Paper: Our paper on “A new learning and classification framework for the detection of abnormal heart sound signals using TQWT, VMD and neural networks”, collaborating with Dr. W. Zeng, has been accepted to the 2020 Chinese Control Conference to be held in Shenyang China in July 2020.

  • 04/15/2020: Graduation: My first Ph.D. student, Xiaonan Dong, has successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation on “Composite Adaptive Learning and Control for Multi-Robot Coordination”.

  • 03/27/2020: NSF Grant: Our project on “Towards Computationally Efficient One-Shot Design for Performance-Critical Distributed Multi-Agent Control”, collaborating with Dr. P. Stegagno, has been funded by NSF.
